What comes with a hand washing station rental?
A hand washing station rental includes a freestanding, 2-person sink with foot pumps, 2 soap dispensers and paper towel dispensers. Our station is the PolyJohn Bravo. It holds 22 gallons of fresh water, and the manufacturer rates it at nearly 350 hand washes per fill.
- Two basins: two people wash at once, one on each side.
- Foot pumps: no handles to touch, so hands stay clean.
- Soap and paper towels: filled at delivery and each refill.
- Separate gray-water tank: used water drains into its own 24-gallon tank, not onto the ground.
- No hookups: no hose, drain or power needed.
Set a trash can next to the station for used towels so they stay off the ground.

Will a hand wash station fit through my gate?
A hand wash station is only 26.5 inches wide and 21.5 inches deep, so it fits through a standard 36-inch gate or doorway. The station can go almost anywhere a person can walk, as long as the ground is firm and level and close to the toilets or food line.
Place the station 5 to 10 feet from the toilet doors so guests see it on the way out. At food events, put a second station by the serving table or grill. Keep it on level ground so the pumps and tanks work right.
If the toilets themselves cannot get past a narrow gate, the station can still go in the backyard while the toilets stay in the driveway.

When do you need a hand wash station?
You need a hand wash station anywhere food is served, any event with 50 or more guests, and on job sites where workers handle paint, chemicals or other harmful contaminants. Plan 1 station for every 4 toilets, rounded up, with at least 1 per event.
- Food: cooks and guests need soap and water, not just sanitizer. Your local health district may require it for a temporary food license.
- Construction: on job sites, OSHA 29 CFR 1926.51(f) requires washing facilities near work with paints, coatings, herbicides and other harmful contaminants.
- Farms: field crews of 11 or more get 1 handwashing facility per 20 workers under OSHA 1928.110.
- Kids' events: sanitizer does not clean sticky or muddy hands.
Use the porta potty calculator to get toilets and wash stations together. Confirm rules with your health district, venue or safety officer; we don't give legal advice.
When is a separate wash station the wrong choice?
A separate hand wash station is the wrong choice for a small party with 1 toilet and no food, where a deluxe unit with a built-in sink costs $35 less. A station is also wrong for a wedding where guests prefer to wash privately inside the restroom.
For one or two toilets at a backyard party, a deluxe flushing unit with a sink keeps everything in one spot. For upscale events, a restroom trailer has vanity sinks with running water.
A separate station wins when many people wash at once, when cooks need a sink away from the toilets, or on job sites where crews wash off grime.
Hand wash station vs. a deluxe unit with a built-in sink
A hand wash station serves 2 people at once outside the toilet and holds 22 gallons of fresh water. A deluxe unit's sink serves 1 person inside the toilet. For 1 unit, deluxe costs $245 versus $280 for a standard plus a station.
| Hand wash station (Bravo) | Deluxe unit with sink (Fleet) | |
|---|---|---|
| Who can use it | Anyone, 2 at a time | Only the person in the toilet |
| Location | Anywhere: food line, gate, toilets | Inside the toilet |
| Event price | From $115 with a toilet | From $245 (toilet and sink) |
| Fresh water | 22 gallons | Onboard tank, refilled each service |
| Best for | Food, job sites, crowds | Small parties, weddings |

How much is a hand washing station rental in Dayton?
A hand washing station rental in Dayton starts at $115 for an event when it rides along with a toilet order. A 28-day rental starts at $150 per cycle with a weekly refill of water, soap and paper towels. A station on its own is quoted by phone.
| Plan | Starting price | Included |
|---|---|---|
| Event, with a toilet | $115 | Delivered with the toilets; filled and stocked |
| 28-day | $150 per cycle | Weekly drain, sanitize and refill |
One delivery covers both the toilets and the station, so there is no second delivery line. A mid-event refill is $45. Zone 2 adds $40 and Zone 3 adds $95 per delivery. See all fee lines in the cost guide.
How often is a hand wash station refilled?
A hand wash station on a 28-day rental is refilled once a week. Each refill drains the 24-gallon gray tank, sanitizes the basins, refills 22 gallons of fresh water, and restocks soap and paper towels. Busy sites can add a second weekly refill for $45.
At roughly 350 washes per fill, a crew of 10 to 15 usually gets through a week. A 200-guest event where people wash twice can go through 400 washes, so plan 2 stations or a mid-event refill.
Fresh water can freeze on Dayton's coldest nights, when January lows sit near 20°F. For winter job sites, talk with dispatch about placement out of the wind and keep sanitizer on hand as a backup.
Common questions
Do you rent hand wash stations on their own?
A hand wash station can be rented alone for a job site or food stand. The $115 event price applies when the station comes with a toilet order; a station on its own is quoted by phone.
How many uses does a hand washing station have?
The PolyJohn Bravo is rated by its manufacturer for nearly 350 uses per fill of its 22-gallon fresh-water tank. Heavy events may need a second station or a $45 mid-event refill.
Does a hand wash station need a water hookup?
A hand wash station needs no hose, drain or power. Fresh water sits in an onboard tank, and used water drains into a separate gray-water tank that we empty at pickup or service.
Can I add a hand wash station after I book?
You can add a station to an existing order by calling or texting dispatch up to the business day before delivery. It rides on the same truck, so no new delivery charge is added.
Is hand sanitizer enough for my event?
Hand sanitizer is inside every standard porta potty, but sanitizer does not remove grease, food or dirt. Where food is served or kids are eating, add a station with soap and running water.
How many hand wash stations do I need?
Plan 1 hand wash station per 4 toilets, rounded up, and at least 1 when food is served or 50+ guests attend. A 150-guest, 6-hour party with a bar needs 7 toilets and 2 stations.
Does OSHA require hand washing stations on construction sites?
OSHA 1926.51(f) requires washing facilities where workers handle paints, coatings, herbicides or other harmful contaminants. Ask your safety officer what your site needs; we don't give legal advice.
