What sets the price of a porta potty rental?

Five things set the price of a porta potty rental: your location zone, the unit type, your dates and rental length, how often the unit is serviced, and how many units you need. A standard event unit in Zone 1 starts at $165, and each choice moves the total up or down.

  1. Location (zone): Zone 1 is within about 25 miles of Dayton and is included for events. Zone 2 (25-50 miles) adds $40. Zone 3 (50-80 miles) adds $95.
  2. Unit type: a standard unit costs least. A deluxe flushing unit, a wheelchair-accessible unit or a restroom trailer costs more.
  3. Dates and length: events of 1 to 3 days, one week, or a 28-day cycle each have their own flat rate. Same-day delivery adds $50.
  4. Servicing: 28-day rentals include weekly service. Extra visits are $45 each in Zones 1 and 2.
  5. Quantity: each unit is priced on its own, but toilets and wash stations ride on one delivery.

Weekend events are delivered Friday and picked up Monday at no extra charge. No deliveries or pickups run on Sunday, so the unit simply stays put.

What are the starting prices in Dayton?

Porta potty rental starting prices in Dayton run from $165 for a standard event unit to $1,695 for a 4-stall restroom trailer weekend. Event prices include delivery and pickup in Zone 1. 28-day prices include weekly service, plus a one-time delivery and pickup charge.

What lines will I see on my quote?

Every quote lists 5 kinds of lines: each unit, delivery and pickup, servicing, a rush fee if you need same-day, and tax. Nothing is added after you book unless you add service. You see the full total before you pay by card or secure text link.

A sample quote for one standard unit at a Zone 2 home remodel, delivered same-day:

LineAmount
Standard porta potty, 28-day cycle (weekly service included)$175.00
Delivery & pickup$75.00
Zone 2 delivery$40.00
Same-day rush$50.00
Subtotal before tax$340.00
Sales taxListed on the quote

There are no fuel, card or setup lines. Tax-exempt churches, schools and agencies can send their certificate to remove tax. We take Visa, Mastercard, Amex and Discover by phone or by a secure text or email pay link, with no printing needed.

Is the price per day? Flat event rates and 28-day cycles

Porta potty prices are not per day. Event and one-week rentals are flat rates for the whole period. Job site and home rentals bill in 28-day cycles, which is 4 weeks with 4 services, not a calendar month. A year has about 13 cycles, not 12.

Flat event rate

The event price covers drop-off, the event days and pickup. A Saturday party gets a Friday delivery and Monday pickup for the same price. A 1-day or 3-day event costs the same.

28-day cycle

  • The cycle starts on delivery day and runs 28 days.
  • Each cycle includes 4 weekly services.
  • The cycle renews until you call or text for pickup.
  • Billing stops on the day you ask for pickup. After the first cycle, you are not charged for a cycle you did not use.

A calendar month has 28 to 31 days, so a cycle bill will not land on the same date each month. Over 12 months, a unit runs about 13 cycles (365 / 28 = 13.04). Budget for 13 bills, not 12.

If I only need it 3 days, do I pay for a full month?

A 3-day job on the 28-day job site plan pays the full first cycle, $175 plus $75 delivery, because the truck makes the same two trips either way. The one-week plan starts at $195 with 1 service, and the 1-3 day event rate starts at $165.

Delivery and pickup cost the same whether a unit stays 3 days or 28. That is why the first cycle is never prorated. Pick the plan that matches how sure you are about the end date.

PlanPrice (Zone 1)ServiceBest when
Event (1-3 days)$165, delivery includedNoneThe job truly ends in 3 days
One week$1951 serviceThe job might slip a few days
28-day job site$175 + $75 = $250WeeklyThe end date is uncertain or over a week

If a 3-day job turns into 3 weeks, the 28-day plan is the cheapest. Contractors who book often can ask about monthly invoicing on our construction rental page.

What do real rentals cost? Worked examples

Four sample Dayton-area rentals range from $280 for a backyard party to $1,815 for a 150-guest wedding, all before tax. Each example adds the unit lines, zone fee, rush fee and service lines exactly as they would appear on a quote.

1. Backyard graduation party, Zone 1, 50 guests, food

1 standard unit ($165) + 1 hand wash station ($115) = $280.

2. Wedding in Zone 2, 150 guests, 6 hours, bar

Our sizing method gives 7 toilets: 1 accessible and 2 hand wash stations. 4 deluxe units (4 x $245 = $980) + 2 standard units (2 x $165 = $330) + 1 wheelchair-accessible unit ($235) + 2 hand wash stations (2 x $115 = $230) + Zone 2 fee ($40) = $1,815.

3. Failed septic at home, Zone 1, same-day, 8 weeks

2 cycles of a standard unit (2 x $175 = $350) + delivery & pickup ($75) + same-day rush ($50) = $475, with 8 weekly services included.

4. Roofing crew, Zone 2, 3-day job

One-week plan: $195 + Zone 2 fee ($40) = $235. On the 28-day plan: $175 + $75 + $40 = $290, with weekly service if the job runs long.

How can I lower my porta potty rental cost in Dayton?

The fastest ways to lower porta potty rental cost are booking a day ahead to skip the $50 rush fee, ordering toilets and wash stations on one delivery, and calling for pickup the day the job ends. Right-sizing with the 1-per-50-guests rule avoids paying for units nobody uses.

  • Book ahead: next-day delivery has no rush fee. Book May-October weekends 1 to 2 weeks out so units are available.
  • One delivery: add the hand wash station to the toilet order instead of booking it later.
  • Pick the right unit: for one unit with a sink, a $245 deluxe beats a $280 standard plus station.
  • Use the free weekend: Friday delivery and Monday pickup cost nothing extra.
  • Call for pickup: 28-day billing stops the day you ask.
  • Send your tax certificate if your group is exempt.
  • Cancel early: changes before 3 p.m. the business day before delivery are free.

A same-day rental is still worth the $50 when the job or septic system cannot wait.

Common questions

How much is it to rent a porta potty for one day?

A standard porta potty for a 1-day event starts at $165 in Zone 1, with delivery and pickup included. The same flat rate covers up to 3 days, so a Friday drop and Monday pickup costs the same.

How much does a porta potty cost per month?

A standard porta potty starts at $175 per 28-day cycle with weekly service, plus a one-time $75 delivery and pickup. The first cycle totals $250 before tax; each later cycle is $175.

Out of the total, what is the unit and what is delivery?

Your quote shows the unit, delivery and pickup, zone fee, rush fee and tax as separate lines. On a 28-day standard rental, the unit is $175 and delivery and pickup is $75.

Why would my invoice be higher than my quote?

Your invoice matches your quote unless you add something, like an extra $45 service visit or a second unit. We do not add fuel, card or setup fees after you book.

Is there an extra charge for delivering the day before?

Day-before delivery is part of the flat event rate. Weekend events get Friday delivery and Monday pickup at no extra charge, since we do not deliver or pick up on Sundays.

What does same-day delivery cost?

Same-day delivery adds a flat $50 rush fee when you call by noon, Monday through Saturday, in Zones 1 and 2. The dispatcher confirms on the call whether a truck can make it.

Can you send me a pay link instead of taking my card over the phone?

A secure pay link can go to your phone by text or to your email, so you never read a card number aloud. Nothing needs printing. We take Visa, Mastercard, Amex and Discover.

Do tax-exempt groups pay sales tax?

Churches, schools, cities and other tax-exempt groups do not pay sales tax once they send their exemption certificate. Send it before the quote is finalized so tax is left off.
